The Emerald Coast Chorus is excited to announce plans for Timpoochee 2024!  The annual Joe Breedon Memorial music festival will be September 20-22 at Camp Timpoochee near Niceville, FL. Special guests and Deans this year are After Hours, 2018 BHS International Quartet champs!!

Registration at camp opens mid-afternoon on Friday with dinner at 5 pm. At 6 pm choruses can begin practicing in designated areas. A schedule will be set up for each participating chorus and quartet. On Saturday breakfast is at 7:30, with combined chorus rehearsal at 8:30. The day continues with more individual chorus and quartet coaching sessions. And we’ll have the Crazy Quartet contest, followed by the (sane?) quartet contest. After dinner is the big Saturday night show. Saturday culminates with a campfire afterglow at the camp. Breakfast is at 8 on Sunday, then break camp at 9.

At the Saturday night performance, we’ll highlight all the individual choruses and the top 3 quartets from the afternoon contest. For timing we won’t have separate men’s and women’s choruses this year, but we’ll have a full combined chorus singing three 8-part songs, which we’ll provide when you register. They are A Whole New World, Harmony, and America the Beautiful. And all can enjoy hearing After Hours, who posted the highest winning score in BHS history. Tell all your friends!
More details will be out soon. Hope you can make it!!!

National Barbershop Quartet Day - April 11
April 11 is National Barbershop Quartet Day, celebrating the 1938 founding of the Barbershop Harmony Society on the rooftop of the Tulsa Club.

    HOW TO OBSERVE #BarbershopQuartetDay

    • Do you have the pipes to harmonize with a quartet? Join a barbershop organization near you. Lend them your voice! You never know who you will meet or whose life you might impact with your music.
    • Attend a barbershop event. They host performances throughout the year and provide excellent (often humorous) entertainment, too!
    • Learn more about the history of the barbershop quartet. Read Four Parts, No Waiting by Gage Averill, or watch the documentary American Harmony directed by Aengus James.
    • Use #BarbershopQuartetDay to post on social media.
    • Educators, visit the National Day Classroom for more information designed for the classroom.
